It's almost been two months since Jack's 2nd birthday so I thought it was high time I put a post together about our favorite little 2-year-old.
favorites
foods: pb&j, chicken nuggets, oatmeal, pizza (pees-pa!), poptarts, chips, broccoli, corn, olives, grapes, fruit snacks, mini wheats.
movie: cars.
TV shows: mickey mouse clubhouse, jake & the neverland pirates, doc mcstuffins, sofia the first (okay basically anything on disney channel!) and anything he finds on netflix ha.
things to do: go to grandmas' houses, play in the playroom, play sports, read books, color, play outside, help with chores, take baths, go swimming
toys: race track (+ cars, trucks, anything with wheels or a motor), balls, blocks, legos, puzzles
after we get out of the car one night and are getting ready to go inside:
jack (*rubbing the cars headlights*): goodnight, car.
he is talking like crazy. he speaks a lot of full sentences (like 5-6 word sentences) and surprises me with several new words every day. i couldn't even tell you how many words he says. probably 300 or 400. it would take me days to count them all.
speaking of counting...we're working on it. usually jack counting goes something like this: 1, 3, 1, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13
how we can't get 1-7 down is beyond me. especially since he knew them before we counted higher haha!
he recognizes all of his letters and knows what several of them "say." he knows that "M" can be turned around to make a "W" or "N" can be turned sideways to make "Z" or "6" can be turned to make "9."
i was beginning to wonder if the kid was colorblind when no matter how many times i pointed out colors everything was "blue!" and then one day it just clicked. he suddenly could distinguish orange from anything else and then within a few days had purple, pink, blue, orange, red, yellow and black down. his favorite is still orange. if he has a choice of something orange, always orange. always.
he can do 15 piece puzzles without any help. and he will do them over and over and over and you get the point.
he is obsessed with coloring. OBSESSED. he loves markers, crayons, chalk, pens...anything he can get his hands on.
my favorite words he says wrong:
banka = grandpa
pees-pa = pizza
pup = phillip
he is obsessed with sports. every sport. football, soccer, tennis, hockey, basketball, golf. you name it, he loves it.
he's a lefty through and through. which is about the cutest thing ever. i love watching him swing a baseball bat left handed or golf left handed. it's just so amusing to me!
anytime he catches me chewing gum:
jack: mommy, what's that?!
me: gum.
jack: jack gum?
me: no, gum is only for adults.
jack: oh! here's gum!
*shows me his "gum" on his finger and proceeds to put it in his mouth and chew it.*
hahaha
he is such a happy kid and says hi to random people all the time.
he can stay up til midnight and be happy as a clam.
we try to get him to bed before that though. keyword: try.
one night before bed:
mommy: two more baskets, jack (shooting hoops, obviously. the little sports fanatic)
jack: ummm. 9?
have i told you yet about how he calls me "marci" on a pretty regular basis?
it started a few months ago when his cousins were calling me marci. he picked up on it and suddenly started saying "marci? marci?"
that happened pretty much exclusively for a few days and then it turned into calling me mommy and if i didn't respond right away it was back to marci.
and then [since we correct him through our tears of laughter] he went back to mommy for most of the time but him calling me marci is still not an unusual thing. although now it's usually "marci mommy?"
it's hilarious every time. every. single. time.
he even shortens it to "marce" sometimes. Just whatever all the other people say, he'll say it too.
i kind of hope he doesn't grow out of it too soon.
me: jack, can you get your shoes? we're going to the store.
jack: jack store too?
me: yeah, you're going too.
jack: YAY TARGET!
yeah we basically go there every other day. sometimes every day. sometimes twice a day.
by the way, jack loves going to the store. loves loves loves. as long as he can walk and doesn't have to ride in the cart ha.
at church when he was trying to squeeze between dad's legs and the pew in front of us:
[in his not whisper voice] "dad, back up! dad, back up!"
every single time he sees me rocking the baby to sleep.
[every. single. time.]
"no rock a sleep! baby crib! playroom, mommy!"
he knows a rabbit is called a rabbit or a bunny but he often calls them "hop" instead.
so when we saw a huge bunny stuffed animal in costco: "it's a hop!" or when we see a bunny in a book "there's the hop!" gets me every time.
oh. and his stats.
height: 35" (70%)
weight: 27lb 8oz (45%)
and his head is still in the 80th percentile.
so blessed to get to be this little boy's mama.
just can't get enough of him.
xoxo
