Free Printables: Planes, Trains & Automobiles

Tuesday, September 23, 2014

This free printable set was created for Sarah for her son's 3rd birthday party!
Such a fun theme!
Jack was ooo-ing and ahh-ing the whole time I made them.
I might just have to print some for him...maybe for the playroom since his room is nautical themed ha!

This first set is so fun with the polka dots but it's definitely busy and makes a big statement!

The second set I created is much more mellow and so, so cute & classic.

Which one do you like better?

blogger tips that i ignore

Saturday, September 20, 2014

i've heard/read before that, as a blogger, you really should narrow down your pictures and choose only the best of the best to go along with your posts.
so i've thought good & hard about that but i've come to the conclusion that it just ain't gonna happen.
and so. just to reiterate that i will not be jumping on the narrowing-down-your-picture-selection train, here you have 50 pictures that all look basically the same.
[i promise they're all different!]

PS sorry if the title was misleading.
this is just one blogger tip that ignore.
i'm sure there are many, many more but we'll save those for another day.

Jack at 2

Friday, September 19, 2014

It's almost been two months since Jack's 2nd birthday so I thought it was high time I put a post together about our favorite little 2-year-old.

favorites
foods: pb&j, chicken nuggets, oatmeal, pizza (pees-pa!), poptarts, chips, broccoli, corn, olives, grapes, fruit snacks, mini wheats.
movie: cars.
TV shows: mickey mouse clubhouse, jake & the neverland pirates, doc mcstuffins, sofia the first (okay basically anything on disney channel!) and anything he finds on netflix ha.
things to do: go to grandmas' houses, play in the playroom, play sports, read books, color, play outside, help with chores, take baths, go swimming
toys: race track (+ cars, trucks, anything with wheels or a motor), balls, blocks, legos, puzzles

after we get out of the car one night and are getting ready to go inside:
jack (*rubbing the cars headlights*): goodnight, car.

he is talking like crazy. he speaks a lot of full sentences (like 5-6 word sentences) and surprises me with several new words every day. i couldn't even tell you how many words he says. probably 300 or 400. it would take me days to count them all.
speaking of counting...we're working on it. usually jack counting goes something like this: 1, 3, 1, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13
how we can't get 1-7 down is beyond me. especially since he knew them before we counted higher haha!
he recognizes all of his letters and knows what several of them "say." he knows that "M" can be turned around to make a "W" or "N" can be turned sideways to make "Z" or "6" can be turned to make "9."
i was beginning to wonder if the kid was colorblind when no matter how many times i pointed out colors everything was "blue!" and then one day it just clicked. he suddenly could distinguish orange from anything else and then within a few days had purple, pink, blue, orange, red, yellow and black down. his favorite is still orange. if he has a choice of something orange, always orange. always.

he can do 15 piece puzzles without any help. and he will do them over and over and over and you get the point.
he is obsessed with coloring. OBSESSED. he loves markers, crayons, chalk, pens...anything he can get his hands on.
my favorite words he says wrong:
banka = grandpa
pees-pa = pizza
pup = phillip

he is obsessed with sports. every sport. football, soccer, tennis, hockey, basketball, golf. you name it, he loves it.
he's a lefty through and through. which is about the cutest thing ever. i love watching him swing a baseball bat left handed or golf left handed. it's just so amusing to me!

anytime he catches me chewing gum:
jack: mommy, what's that?!
me: gum.
jack: jack gum?
me: no, gum is only for adults.
jack: oh! here's gum!
*shows me his "gum" on his finger and proceeds to put it in his mouth and chew it.*
hahaha

he is such a happy kid and says hi to random people all the time.
he can stay up til midnight and be happy as a clam.
we try to get him to bed before that though. keyword: try.

one night before bed:
mommy: two more baskets, jack (shooting hoops, obviously. the little sports fanatic)
jack: ummm. 9?

have i told you yet about how he calls me "marci" on a pretty regular basis?
it started a few months ago when his cousins were calling me marci. he picked up on it and suddenly started saying "marci? marci?"
that happened pretty much exclusively for a few days and then it turned into calling me mommy and if i didn't respond right away it was back to marci.
and then [since we correct him through our tears of laughter] he went back to mommy for most of the time but him calling me marci is still not an unusual thing. although now it's usually "marci mommy?"
it's hilarious every time. every. single. time.
he even shortens it to "marce" sometimes. Just whatever all the other people say, he'll say it too.
i kind of hope he doesn't grow out of it too soon.

me: jack, can you get your shoes? we're going to the store.
jack: jack store too?
me: yeah, you're going too.
jack: YAY TARGET!
yeah we basically go there every other day. sometimes every day. sometimes twice a day.
by the way, jack loves going to the store. loves loves loves. as long as he can walk and doesn't have to ride in the cart ha.

at church when he was trying to squeeze between dad's legs and the pew in front of us:
[in his not whisper voice] "dad, back up! dad, back up!"

every single time he sees me rocking the baby to sleep.
[every. single. time.]
"no rock a sleep! baby crib! playroom, mommy!"

he knows a rabbit is called a rabbit or a bunny but he often calls them "hop" instead.
so when we saw a huge bunny stuffed animal in costco: "it's a hop!" or when we see a bunny in a book "there's the hop!" gets me every time.

oh. and his stats.
height: 35" (70%)
weight: 27lb 8oz (45%)
and his head is still in the 80th percentile.

so blessed to get to be this little boy's mama.
just can't get enough of him.

xoxo

an update before an update.

Thursday, September 18, 2014

it's like the calm before the storm.
except probably not because it's really just an update.
right before i post another update in a few days.
it's actually not even really an update because these pictures are all from so long ago that it's not at all updated. it's it's more of a downdate.
or a past date.
or just get on with it already?

As I was back-to-school-clothes-shopping (it's practically all one word, right?) with my brother* I held a shirt up to show him and said "this is nice."
Then I hear in a little voice behind me "this is nice" and Jack had pulled a shirt off the shelf and was holding it up to himself. I died. Seriously loving the copy-cat stage.
*my brother was seriously my favorite person ever for inviting me to go back-to-school-clothes-shopping with him. pretty sure that's the best kind of shopping and i haven't gotten to do it in YEARS.

This has no story. It's just cute.

Tom went to san francisco on business and when he got home on a friday night we went out to dinner and then he got a big fat "welcome home!" from the car when the battery died in the parking lot.

Jack thought the tow truck was pretty cool

until it started to drive away with our car.
then he cried.

the cuteness. it's too much sometimes.

Story:
Babies wake up, Daddy brings them to the playroom, comes back to the bedroom to shower.
Next thing I know Jack comes running into the bedroom "uh oh! baby! markers!"
can't be good. won't be good.
run down the hallway and this.

I brought baby back to the bedroom and showed him to T.
his response "i'm not really sure why I thought markers would be better than crayons..."
me neither.
for the record, he didn't get the markers out for the baby. they were for the little picasso better known as jack who is obsessed with coloring. but i don't think the baby got the memo.

to the tune of "row row row your boat":
brush, brush, brush your teeth
brush them every day.
brush them once, brush them twice.
keep the cavities away.
Sung twice a day, every day. In theory, at least.
Sometimes we forget to brush them once, brush them twice.

Oh hey, guys. I'm an A's fan by default.

he stands up on everything. and has been doing so since about the day he turned 6.5 months old.
keeping me on my toes, this one.
jack didn't even army crawl until 9 months old.

he also climbs stairs, climbs onto boxes/the dishwasher/jack's stool/everything.

and of course jack copy-cats it all.
\
he's into everything, guys.

one day i walked out of my bedroom and oh, hey, there's a hand in the hallway.
jack often falls asleep on the floor of his room at nap time (after giving up the fight of begging me to let him out) and this day he apparently left his hand hanging out under the door. it was a little creepy for half a second and then just funny every time i walked by.

will summer ever end? i mean. we like swimming and all but i've been ready for fall since july sooo. as cute as they are in these little swim suits, i'm pretty ready to toss them into boxes and pull out the jackets long sleeve shirts because, let's be honest, it never gets cold enough for a jacket.

is it just me or does him sitting on his knees like this make him seem not-so-baby anymore?

"HI MOM!"
the things toddlers think are hilarious.

representing mommy's work alma mater.
is that even a thing?

the floor-sleeping in action.
i should probably move this up to the spot where i talked about floor sleeping but nope. because i'm just too lazy. and it's my blog so i do what i want. or don't want.

oh hey dad! phillip is pretty happy to see you after your business trip.
but jack is apparently too cool for that nonsense.
off camera, he really was excited.

more step-climbing. more on the go go.

back when i started this post (and by started i mean dumped a bunch of pictures into it then forgot about it for several weeks) these pictures were so exciting because phillip was STANDING.
but he was like 6 months old then and he's almost 8 months old now and it's definitely old news because he stands up on everything all the time. but the pictures are here all the same.
so let's just pretend to be excited all over again.
YOU GUYS. MY 6 MONTH OLD IS STANDING ON STUFF.
i really thought that the second time around all the milestones probably wouldn't be as exciting as they were in round one. you know because been there, done that. but no. it's still equally and ridiculously as exciting.
so exciting that i even took pictures of the whole process of phillip standing up for the first time as seen above.

this is jack and his best friend aka "ban-kah" aka grandpa.

oh hey, daddy & jack.
you are both pretty cute.
and phillip in the window? you're cute too.

until my next completely random update post, friends.
xoxo
